<p>The new compsns. contain trans nitro cpds. of formula (I): (where R is H or lower alkyl; R1 is 5- or 6-membered carbocycle or heterocycle linked through a C atom to the ethylene gp. and which may be substd. by one or more of amine, mono or di-alkylamine, nitro, halogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkoxy, aralkoxy, hydroxy or methylenedioxy, or it may contain a carbon chain making with R1 an aromatic polycyclic system). Specific cpds. include trans beta-nitro 4-fluoro and 3,4,5-trimethoxy styrene, trans 2-nitro-1-(alpha-naphthyl)ethylene, trans 2-nitro-2-methyl-1-(beta-naphthyl)ethylene, trans beta-nitro 4-allyloxy 4-propoxy, 3-methyl-4-isopropyl and 2,6-dinitro-3-methyl-4-isopropyl styrenes.</p> |
