PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exert a processing burden nearly evenly to respective error correction lines in error correction processing and to obviate the occurrence of the error correction lines having a high probability of resulting in a correction failure in particular. SOLUTION: In the data recording method for an optical disk formed by circumferentially dividing tracks by plural sectors and providing the respective sectors having servo bytes or resynchronization signals and a plurality of data segments having data areas of a data unit number n in succession thereto, m pieces of the error correction lines are prepared and this m or the measure of the m is set at an indivisible value with respect to the data unit number n and the data streams to be recorded are successively sorted to the error correction lines by each of the data units, by which the data groups of the data unit number n corresponding to the data segments within the sectors described above are constituted and these data groups are successively recorded to the optical disk described above.
