<p>Rigidized sleeving (10) for protecting elongated items (46) is disclosed. The sleeving (10) is formed from an open mesh (16) of interlaced filamentary members (14) having flexible edge portions (18, 20) extending along the length of the sleeving (10). A stiffening matrix (28) is attached to the mesh (16) between the edge portions (18, 20). The edge portions (18, 20) fold towards one another in an overlapping arrangement to create an inner space (44) between the matrix (28) and the edge portions (18, 20) where the elongated items (46) are retained. The matrix (28) has grooves (48) or projections (50) arranged lengthwise along the sleeving (10) and designed to receive and retain the elongated items (46). Clips (36) attach the sleeving (10) to an external structure (34). Hook-and-loop fasteners (24, 26) retain the edge portions (18, 20) in overlapping interengagement.</p> |
