<p>A method and an apparatus for reducing image noise in which averaging is carried out using peripheral pixels having a level difference υ from an interesting pixel smaller than a reference value and the ratio of interesting element pertaining to the averaging operation is controlled by setting a gain α for the interesting pixel at the time of averaging and controlling the gain α thus set. Since the extent of signal processing can be set arbitrarily at an ε-filter, optimal image processing can be carried out.</p> |
