<p>1280929 Universal joints; bearings DURKOPPWERKE GmbH 6 Oct 1970 [9 Oct 1969] 47369/70 Headings F2A and F2U Each arm 1 of a Hookes joint spider is journalled in a fork eye 2 by a multi-row roller bearing 3 whose outer race is a sheet metal cup 4, the base of which comprises an annular portion 7 extending radially inwardly to between the roller pitch circle and the end diameter of the arm whence extends radially-inwardly an axially-outwardly-displaced disc portion 6 with an oil-filling opening 11 (e.g. square) closable (e.g. by a threaded plastics bush 12 and a screw 14) and forming a recess housing a thrust bearing pad 9 (e.g. of nylon), the bearing cup 4 being retained in the eye 2 by a circlip 6 behind a washer 10. The joints may be used in pairs on shafts.</p> |
