PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To share an outer cylinder and an intermediate member and to precisely manage bearing pressure by the intermediate member for holding a carrier. SOLUTION: This catalytic converter comprises the outer cylinder 10, the carrier 20 stored in the outer cylinder, and the intermediate member 40 for holding the carrier in the outer cylinder between the outer cylinder and the carrier. The surface specific gravity of the intermediate member, when the intermediate member is wound around the carrier by one circle, is set smaller than a surface specific gravity capable of securing a predetermined bearing pressure in a crossover range of a clearance between the outer cylinder and the carrier, and the intermediate member is interposed between the outer cylinder and the carrier so that at least parts are overlapped like a layer in response to the side of the clearance formed between the outer cylinder and the carrier. |
