PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative image recording material which suppresses ablation in laser scanning exposure and forms a planographic printing plate having high strength of a formed image area and excellent in printing resistance. SOLUTION: The negative image recording material adaptable to a heat mode contains (A) a polyurethane resin having one or more of groups of formulae (1)-(3) in a side chain and soluble in an alkaline aqueous solution, (B) a photothermal converting agent and (C) a compound which generates a radical by heat mode exposure with light of a wavelength which can be absorbed in the photothermal converting agent and the material can form an image by heat mode exposure. In the formulae (1)-(3), R<1> -R<11> are each a monovalent organic group; X and Y are each O, S or -N(R<12> )-; and Z is O, S, -N(R<13> )- or phenylene which may have a substituent. |
