PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately transfer a magnetized pattern by defining the permissible range of the applying direction of a transfer magnetic field when magnetic transfer is carried out by adhering a master carrier to a slave medium and applying a transfer magnetic field. SOLUTION: When magnetic transfer is carried out by first applying a magnetic field in the track direction of a slave surface to initially DC-magnetize a slave medium 2 in the track direction, the adhering a master carrier 3 and the slave medium 2 to each other, and applying a transfer magnetic field in the track direction of the salve surface, the applying angleαof the transfer magnetic field is set within±30 deg. in a vertical direction with respect to the slave surface. Also, the applying angle of the transfer magnetic field is set within±30 deg. in a track direction on a surface parallel to the slave surface.
