<p>A resin composition for water-based coating materials which has an excellent balance between unsusceptibility to the adhesion of fouling substances and weatherability and can form a coating film having a high gloss. The resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight (on a solid basis) of a synthetic resin emulsion (A) and 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of a silane coupling agent (B) represented by the formula (I): (R1O)3SiR2 (wherein R1s are the same or different and each is a C¿1-20? organic group, and R?2¿ is an organic group having a cyclic structure and an epoxy group). It may contain as an optional ingredient (C) 1 to 50 parts by weight of a silane compound represented by the formula (II): (R3O)4-aSiR4a (wherein R3s are the same or different and each is a C¿1-20? organic group, R?4¿s are the same or different and each is a C¿1-20? organic group, and a is an integer of 0 or 1) and/or a product of the partial hydrolytic condensation of the silane compound. The composition further contains a curing catalyst (D).</p> |
