PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an olefin (co)polymer having a narrow compositional distribution in high yield. SOLUTION: This process comprises the steps of polymerizing an olefin in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst containing a metal complex of the group 3-12 of the periodic table and stopping the polymerization by adding, to the resultant olefin polymer, a compound formed by linking an element of the group 13 or 14 to a hydrocarbon group via a cross-linking group containing an element of the group 15 or 16.
