PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle length measuring device and measuring method that can rapidly and accurately measure vehicle length without being influenced by the field of view and being hardly influenced by a rainfall, snow coverage, dust and the like. SOLUTION: This vehicle length measuring device is provided with magnetic sensors 3, 4 installed in a place where vehicles pass through and in its vicinity; a transform-processing means 10 for carrying out FFT processing of voltage outputted when the vehicle pass on the magnetic sensors 3, 4, to analog signal waveform taken on a time axis, and extracting a fundamental wave component; a vehicle speed measuring means 7 for measuring the speed of the vehicle 2 passing on the magnetic sensors 3, 4; and a vehicle length computing means 11 for computing the length of the vehicle 2 on the basis of the vehicle speed measured by the speed measuring means 7, and the fundamental wave component extracted by the transform-processing means 10.
