PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic signal slice level adjusting method capable of setting the slice level to the optimum value at a high speed with respect to a reproduced signal of the intermittently recorded information and without being affected by the fluctuation of a DSV. SOLUTION: The influence of fluctuation of the DSV is surely eliminated by arranging a latch circuit at a post stage of a DSV integrator, thereby performing the latch of the timing making the term being guaranteed so that the DSV becomes zero, to be the period. Also, the above latch period is changed over so as to be shortened as compared with the latch period of the data part in a synchronizing signal part included in an initial part reproducing signal after interruption, thus the slice level control loop is made to the broad band area in the initial operation to attain the high speed response of the slice level.
