摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel vanadium-phosphorus composite oxide having an extremely large surface area and a method for simply and easily manufacturing the composite oxide. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a vanadium-phosphorus composite oxide by heating an intercalation compound comprising vanadium, phosphorus and oxygen as basic components, characterized in that the intercalation compound is an intercalation compound intercalated between the laminer compounds comprised of vanadium, phosphorus and oxygen as basic components with a secondary aliphatic monoalcohol having 4-8 of carbon atoms, and in that the intercalation compound is heated under atmosphere consisting of an inert gas containing 2.0 vol.% to 50 vol.% of oxygen to the total gas volume and at a temperature of 150-420 deg.C.
