Chips of nitrocellulose - treated with polyol prepared from a mixture of aq emulsions

Flakes or chips of nitrocellulose contg. a polyol are prepd. by mixing an emulsion of a polyol chosen from polyoxyalkylene glycols of m.w. 400-4,000, polyesters and polyethers contg. free reactive OH groups and polyurethane oils in presence of emulsifier (1-5% of ethylene oxide/fatty acid) with nitrocellulose impregnated with water or in suspension using 15-40% polyol based on nitrocellulose. The product is calendered, dried and chipped. The process overcomes the difficulty in parent patent of processing high M.W. nitrocellulose with solvents by using a suspension.
