PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of the torque shock in implementing the temperature increase control with the ignition time lag by switching the combustion system from the stratified charge combustion to the homogeneous charge combustion for depoisoning of an NOX absorption reduction catalyst device in an exhaust emission control device of a cylinder fuel injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine capable of implementing the stratified charge combustion and the homogeneous charge combustion. SOLUTION: In the cylinder injection type spark ignition internal combustion engine, the torque shock preventive control is implemented (the quantity of correction of the lag of the ignition timing) when the combustion system is switched from the stratified charge combustion to the homogeneous charge combustion. If the stratified charge combustion is implemented when the temperature of the NOX absorption reduction catalyst for the recovery process of releasing a poisoning material from the NOX absorption reduction catalyst, the combustion system is switched from the stratified charge combustion to the homogeneous charge combustion to implement the torque shock preventive control. Then, after the torque shock preventive control is completed, the ignition timing is lagged in the homogenous charge combustion and the exhaust temperature is increased (the quantity of correction of the lag of ignition timing). |
