PURPOSE: To obtain a more energy saving highly reliable refrigerating device by optimizing its operating pressure even against a largely-fluctuating load. CONSTITUTION: This refrigerating device is provided with a refrigerating cycle having compressors 1, a condenser 2, liquid receiver 3, expansion valves 5 and evaporators 6, and an inlet pressure sensor 7 which detects the inlet-side pressures of the compressors 1. When the inlet-side pressures are higher than a capacity-raising pressure value, this refrigerating device increases the number of operated compressors or the operating frequencies of the compressors 1. This device compares the time during which the inlet pressure is higher than the capacity-raising pressure value with the time during which the inlet pressure is lower than the capacity-lowering pressure value and, when the latter is longer than the former, increases at least either one of the capacity-raising pressure value or a capacity-lowering pressure value.
