PURPOSE: A keyboard device for sensing the pressing velocity and depth of a key is provided to obtain special sound effects by changing the sound amount or sound frequencies according to the pressing velocity and depth of the keys, thereby obtaining various sound effects according to the skill of a player. CONSTITUTION: A keyboard device for sensing the pressing velocity and depth of a key includes light sources(12) assigned for respective keys, a plurality of key pressing depth/brightness conversion parts(14) for converting an amount of light transmitted from the light source according to the pressing velocity and depth of the keys, an optical signal output part(16) for outputting the optical signals of which brightness are converted by the pressing velocity and depth of the keys in the shape of matrix, an image sensing part(18) for image-capturing the optical signal output parts entirely, an image analyzing part(20) for processing the captured images of the image sensing part and analyzing the pressing velocity and depth of the keys according to velocity change and change amount of the brightness per the optical signal of the respective light sources, and a sound generation control part(22) for controlling sounds generated by a sound generating part(28) according to the analyzed pressing velocity and depth of the keys.
