APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR HARD-FACING OUTER SURFACE OF WORK ROLL

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for hard-facing the outer surface of a work roll are provided to prevent disposal of products and enable re-hardening in which products used for a long period of time are recycled by enabling repairing of processing defects generated during fabrication of the work roll. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for hard-facing the outer surface of a work roll comprises a welding unit(1) on which a welding head(3a) capable of tilting is mounted; a driving unit(2) for driving a turning roller(2a) that is closely adhered onto the outer circumferential part of a barrel(200) of the work roll(W); a transfer unit(3) to which the welding head(3a) of the welding unit(1) is adhered, and which transfers the welding head(3a) during rotation of the driving unit(2); a heat treatment unit performing preheating and post-heating of the work roll before and after welding the work roll(W), wherein supports facing each other are set up on a base structure on which transfer wheels are hung in the transfer unit(3), ball screws fixed by jaws are installed in the supports, a head guide traversing between the supports is connected to the ball screws, and a welding unit adhesion plate(11) is coupled to the head guide.
