A weighing machine constituted by a plurality of weighing units, and a weighing machine control portion for performing a centralized control of these weighing units are provided. The weighing machine control portion comprises a CPU, a main memory, a flash memory, a display such as a liquid crystal display, and a key input device such as a key board, and a communication device is connected to the weighing machine control portion. In replacement of the control program, the communication device is connected to Internet and a new control program is downloaded from the server computer to a temporary storage area of the flash memory. The new program is transferred to a control program area of the main memory and executed by the CPU. Thus, a combination weighing apparatus and a combination weighing system in which the control program is replaceable via the communication medium such as Internet are provided.
