At the transmitter, the bit sequence to be sent is grouped into b-bit data symbols (di). The data symbols (di) are encoded systematically, producing a code word with at most 2b-1 data symbols (di). Each data symbol is associated with one or more redundant symbols (Rij) in the long b-bit.
