An emergency combustion engine shutoff apparatus combined with an air intake manifold of a combustion engine. At least one storage cylinder is provided containing a supply of inert gas under pressure. A conduit connects the storage cylinder with the air intake manifold. A valve controls the flow of inert gas from the storage cylinder through the conduit to the air intake manifold. When the valve is manually opened, inert gas floods the air intake manifold to shut down the combustion engine.
