Process reactor comprises a container (2) open at the top and closed at the bottom; and an intermediate wall (13) which moves between a resting position partially outside of the container and a functional position partially inside of the container. The intermediate wall in the function position forms a separating wall between the workpiece (1) on one side and a part of the outer wall of the container and/or further components on the other side. An Independent claim is also included for a process for surface treating workpieces in a process reactor. Preferred Features: The intermediate wall in the functional position completely separates the workpiece from the outer wall of the container and/or further components.
