PURPOSE: A method for providing the evaluation information of an Internet site is provided to minimize the time and load for searching a web site by offering the reliable and objective information for respective web sites to the netizens via a web server. CONSTITUTION: A client(70) stores personal information in a DB(40) by connecting to a web server(10) through a network. Information is provided to the client. Information for many external sites(60) including portal sites is collected corresponding to plural categories for comparison. Corresponding sites are evaluated based on the collected categories and rated. The characteristics of the sites are stored in the DB with the ratings and collected categories. If the client requests for information, the list of corresponding web sites is provided. Then, the evaluated ratings, user status, and characteristics of respective sites are provided.
