BIOLOGICAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT

PURPOSE: A biological wastewater treatment system that prevents excess SBOD introduction into nitrification tank from denitrification tank is provided. CONSTITUTION: Conventional nitrogen removal processes using biofilm have drawbacks that if the concentration of SBOD (soluble biochemical oxygen demand) in influent wastewater is higher than that of soluble nitrogen by 2.5 times or more, residual SBOD after SBOD has consumed in denitrification tank is introduced to nitrification tank. Excess SBOD introduction in nitrification tank would affect nitrification reaction because nitrification bacteria show lower propagation rate in comparison with bacteria related to organic oxidation if organic load introduced into nitrification tank is high. To solve above problems, this biological wastewater treatment is characterized in that one or more air diffusers(216) are installed at the inner upper side of an upflow denitrification tank(204) so that excess SBOD introduction into nitrification tank is controlled.
