Position sensing device for measuring the position of moving elements (10), especially the position of a piston in a working cylinder. A frequency generator (16) produces an exciting electromagnetic field that causes at least a resonator (14, 15) to resonate. The resonance frequency is magnetic field dependent and is changed according to the position of a position magnet (13) attached to the piston. The resonant frequency is detected by a receiver (17) and used to determine the position of the piston.
