A separate motor (32) is provided to drive the central roller pair (II, 13), which can be used to measure drawing forces. The function linking measured values with pre-stretch values can be determined. In a rising end point or end region of a graph, this yields a parameter useful for optimizing the pre-stretch value (VV) of the stretching mechanism (2).
