Contact-less acquiring and measuring of the surface contour of profile tubes involves guiding a laser sensor of a laser measuring system in a plane running across the longitudinal axis of the tube rotating around the tube; measuring the distances form the sensor to the surface of the tube; feeding the measured values together with information about the position of the laser to a computer; and comparing with a theoretical surface contour. An Independent claim is also included for a device for the contact-less acquiring and measuring of the surface contour of profile tubes. Preferred Features: The measured values processed in the computer and acquired during the course of seam welding produce boundary value signals and generate adjusting parameters.
