Method in which two or three balls of know dimensions and of X-ray absorbing material are fixed to an object away from the center of a beam path. The beam path is precisely perpendicular to the imaging receiver, so that for known distances between the X-ray focus and the receiver the angle between an object of interest and the receiver axis and the distance of the balls from the focus can be precisely calculated. The invention also relates to a corresponding arrangement for implementation of the method.
