The invention relates to an electric machine, particularly a generator for a motor vehicle, comprising a housing (2) and a rotor (6) that is mounted inside the housing (2) in a manner that permits it to rotate about an axis of rotation (5). Said rotor has at least one rotor winding (14) and at least one fan wheel (21), which is arranged on the rotor (6), and which is provided for producing convection inside the housing (2) and for carrying away heat from the at least one rotor winding (14). The inventive electric machine exhibits an improved cooling of the rotor (6) by virtue of the fact that the at least one fan wheel (21) is connected to the rotor (6) in an at least in-line manner.
