The mitre cutting device has a guide rail (6) with support rest and two side walls (4,5) for the work piece (2), and a guide device (7) for the cutting tool. The guide device is mounted on the support rest to swivel continuously about an axis of rotation (19) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (18) of the guide rail and to then fix in a predeterminable angular setting. The guide device has at both ends a pair of guide rods (12, 13) and the spacing between the guide rods corresponds to the thickness of the cutting tool. An angle scale (8) on the support rest allows the angular position of the guide device to be read off.
