LOW COST COMPACT SYSTEM FOR RECEIVING SCRAMBLED SIGNALS FROM PLURAL OPERATORS

PURPOSE: A compact and low-cost system for receiving scrambled signals from plural operators is provided to cut down expenses of the system, and to prevent program contents from being copied without authorization by receiving program from different operators. CONSTITUTION: A system for receiving encoded and scrambled data signals(DS) comprises a decoder(DEC), an output device(DISP) equipped with a unit to generate output stimuli on the basis of output signals(OS) from the decoder, a descrambling unit(DES) for descrambling the data signals activated by an enabling signal(ES), and an enabling unit(EN) intended to receive protected information from an operator and supply the enabling signal. The user receives programs originating from different operators at low cost, and the system restricts the contents of programs from being copied without authorization.
