DISTRIBUTED SWITCHING METHOD

PURPOSE: A distributed switching method is provided to minimize the bottle neck state and to improve system efficiency by executing the data transmission between nodes connected to an identical interface module through a cell switching multiplexer in the interface module and removing unnecessary data transmission to a switch module. CONSTITUTION: A distributed switching system consists of an interface module(100) and a switch module(200). The interface module(100), forming a physical interface for ports connected to terminals(300) through a plurality of UNI chips(110), is composed of a cell switching multiplexer(140) and a routing table(130). The cell switching multiplexer(140) executes the multiplexing and local switching of the ATM cell streams transmitted through the UNI chips(110). The routing table(130) grants routing information to the ATM cells transmitted from the cell switching multiplexer(140).
