A method of assembling pipe joints in a pipe string allows the circumferential orientation of a first pipe in the pipe string to be determined relative to a second pipe in the pipe string. Threads are created for the pin member and the coupling member of each joint, and each pin member and coupling member is marked with an alignment mark.
