The connecting rod of an internal combustion engine has an eye (10) which on the inner wall (12,14) facing the piston pin (18) is deformed to deviate at least partially from a cylindrical shape in such a way that the inner wall on a side force-loading the piston pin follows the outer wall of the piston pin in the load-deformed state. The inner wall of the connecting rod eye in longitudinal section is convexly constructed at least in a predetermined area.
