A cosmetic-use polymer having a weight average molecular weight of 5.0.10<3>-1.0.10<7> and comprising a repeating unit having at least the guanidino group denoted by general formula (I) below <CHEM> (where, in the formula, R<1> denotes a hydrogen atom or hydrocarbon group, R<2> denotes a hydrogen atom or methyl group, X denotes a bivalent connecting group, m denotes 0 or 1, and the guanidino group in the formula is optionally a salt to which an acid has been added) was disclosed.
