PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily identifying the existence of the coating film or the information (kind, characteristics or history) on the coating film in a non-contact, simple method without damaging the coating film formed on the car body or parts of a car. SOLUTION: In the method for the presence of the coating film applied to the car body and parts of the car, the coating film, which is formed by coating at least a part of the car body and parts of the car with a paint preliminarily compounded with a fluoresent substance, is irradiated with ultraviolet rays or near ultraviolet rays to judge the presence of the coating film by the light emitted from the fluoresent substance.
