PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure interchangeability between an electronic endoscope unit and an electronic endoscope of an old type even when the unit of a new type or another type is manufactured. SOLUTION: When a new processor unit 12A is connected to an old electronic scope 10B having a memory 17 for storing data B for image processing intrinsic for the scope, a correction processing control of a white balance is executed by a microcomputer 25. That is, the microcomputer 25 decides whether the image processing data conforming to the new processor unit 12A exists or not at the old scope 10B side at a power source applying time. If there does not exist the conforming data, the correction of white balance by a user is executed based on imaging of a white board, and data C for new image processing at this white balance correcting time is written to be added together with data identification information in the old scope 10B side memory 17.
