PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine and a method for manufacturing a thin metal strip wherein cracking does not occur in a tundish or clogging does not occur in a nozzle during the supply of molten metal from a melting furnace into the tundish in manufacturing a thin metal strip. SOLUTION: A heating element (graphite) 14 is of a three-dimensional shape which can be inserted close to the inner face of the body 21 and nozzle portion 22 of the tundish 20 and is heated by induction. The heating element 14 is inserted into the tundish 20 and is heated up to a temperature by an induction heating coil 27 wound around the outer circumference of the tundish 20. The tundish is preheated by heat transfer from the heating element 14. After the heating element 14 is removed, molten metal is supplied into the tundish 20.
