PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide type connection and traction device adjustable a practical connection center in the front/rear direction of a vehicle with a trailer connected thereto, to provide its operation method, and to provide a device improvable an already sold connecting device of a tractor at low cost. SOLUTION: A connection in the trailer side of a flexible pipeline 6 for supplying a pneumatic pressure for controlling an emergency brake from the tractor to the trailer is released and connected to a pipeline 9 for supplying it to a pneumatic cylinder releasing the lock state of a slide lock means. The emergency brake of the trailer is automatically made into a braking state to eliminate the vehicle from moving imprudently and the slide lock means is operated by the pneumatic pressure so as to dispense with a large physical strength.
