SINGLE FACE WELDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a butt single face welding method capable of improving fatigue strength in a weld part with a low-priced and simple method by optimizing thickness and width of a back plate which is butted on a groove back face of a welding material under a welding condition in a method for welding a butt single face by butting the same quality of the back plate as the welding material. SOLUTION: In the method for welding a butt single face by butting the back plate on the groove back face of the welding material, the plate thickness t of the back plate is 0.5-7.0 mm, furthermore, the relationship among the plate width w of the back plate, a melting depthδof an initial bead at the groove back face and a root interval G satisfies w<=G+2×δ.
