PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain saw for high branch cutting, with which even a high branch w liable to be shaken vertically can be surely cut and a relatively thick and high branch w can be rapidly cut with reduced labor. SOLUTION: Grip parts 5 and 5 are arranged at the root part of a supporting rod member 1 having several-meter length and a cutting blade chain means 2 to which a rotary driving force is transmitted and which is operated is installed at the tip part of the member. A branch locating means 11 is laid at the side part of the cutting blade chain means 2. The branch locating means 11 is hung on the branch w and stabilizes the position of a cutting action part 10a of the cutting blade means 2 on the branch w during cutting of the branch w by the cutting blade chain means 2.
