1292746 Rasping tyres B & J MFG CO and W E JENSEN 13 May 1970 [30 July 1969] 23228/70 Heading B4B A method of rasping a tyre comprises contacting the surface of a rotating tyre carcass T with rotating rasp 16 and applying a fluid, e.g. water spray, which reduces the generation of heat by friction as the rotating tool contacts the tyre surface. The tyre T is mounted on a support 12 carried by a shaft 14 which is rotatable by a motor, the rasp being rotated at a higher speed by a separate motor. The dust particles are removed by an exhaust system 22. The water is sprayed on the rasp by means of nozzles 24, 24a fed by pipes 26, 26a connected to a water source via solenoid actuated valves 30, 30a. One or other of the solenoid valves is selected, depending upon the direction of rotation of the rasp, via a manually-operable switch 42.
|
