PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital image reader that processes an image by properly discriminating whether or not calibration is to be executed. SOLUTION: In the case that the digital image reader 1 converts an image of an original captured by a sensor 41 in an RGB space specific to the device into a digital image in an sRGB space that is a standard RGB space, a nonvolatile memory stores an sRGB space coloriometrically obtained from a patch part provided at the outside of a read area of the original, a CRT 51 displays the result of reading the sRGB from the patch part by the sensor 41 and the sRGB data of the patch part stored in the nonvolatile memory. When the user operates an instruction as to whether or not the calibration is to be executed on the basis of the two data displayed on the CRT 51, the data are processed according to the instruction. Thus, whether or not the calibration is required can be discriminated stably and accurately at a low cost at all times and the sRGB can stably be outputted at all times.
