The method involves transmitting data formed from individual data bytes over an optical transmission system from a transmitter to a receiver. The transmitter emits light in response to a sequence of data bits, corresponding to the coded data bytes and, if necessary, further additional encoded data bits, such as parity bits. The information of a data bit group of a data byte including more than one data bit is encoded through the distance of two light pulses emitted by the transmitter. The data bit group includes preferably all data bits of a byte, and the transmission results by device of solely two light pulses whose distance represents the coding of the entire data byte. |
