SOLUTION: A bit shifter 21 divides pixel values of other sequentially inputted narrow dynamic range image data than those narrow dynamic range image data having reference amplitude characteristics by 2. an adder 22 adds the narrow dynamic range image data from the bit shifter 21 to image data in an image hold memory 23 to overwrite and store the result in the memory 23. Finally, this memory 23 holds the wide dynamic range image data having amplitude characteristics proximate to a logarithmic curve.
