PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for notifying a received mail used at a mobile body communication terminal unit capable of notifying upon changing the arrival tone of mail reception in accordance with the sender registered in a mail title or an address book. SOLUTION: If judgement is made from the title of the received mail that the received mail is either of a return mail or transfer mail, the reception of mail is notified by emitting the arrival tone which is previously set differently between the return mail and transfer mail, and in case the received mail is a new one other than a return or transfer mail and the mail sender is registered in the address book, the reception of mail is notified by emitting the arrival tone previously set corresponding to each mail address in the address book.
