<p>Barriers comprising a stack of wide shallow panels assembled using seal pads and cables to form a wall, pref. designed to rise and fall as an assembly between guide channels and pillars. Pref. each panel rests on rubber (polychloroprene) pads several mm. thick on top of the panel below and the gap alongside the pads is blocked by a layer of compressible material, pref. expanded polystyrene. Pref. the adjacent guide and support faces are covered with PTFE. Esp. for sluice gates for controlling the flow of water in reservoir passages, docks or irrigation works etc. More readily fabricated assembled and installed than unitary barriers. Alignment tolerances can be increased from 1 - 2 mm to 1 - 2 cm. Tie cables generating a structure compression of 100 - 150 bars prevent relative movement of the individual panels in the barrier.</p> |
