VARIABLE RESISTOR AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable resistor which is stable in characteristics and kept free from the fact that whiskers are originated from external electrodes to electrically connect a pair of external terminals together to make the variable resistor unstable in output. SOLUTION: A plating layer 35 of tin is formed on the surfaces of a middle terminal 30 and an external terminal 37, and plating particles contained in the plating layer 35 are fused to disappear, so that whiskers are restrained from originating from the plating layer 35.
