PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file management system for easily performing a work for collecting and storing files such as image information to be processed in each kind of business. SOLUTION: The image information management system 2 is provided with an image obtaining indication device 10, an image storage management device 12, an image retrieval device 14, a management information input device 16, an image information storage device 20 and an item information storage device 30. The item information storage device 36 is provided with an item information table 32. The image obtaining indication device 10 reads an item ID for specifying desired item information, adds it to an E-mail, attaches to an E-mail, indicating information which indicates the generation and providing of image information corresponding to the item information, and transmits it to the generator and provider of image information. The image storage management device 12 stores the image information attached to the return E-mail into the image information storage device 20 based on the item ID.
