PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording and reproducing device which is capable of recording signals to a disk by a laser emitted from an optical pickup. SOLUTION: The optical disk recording and reproducing device which is connected to a computer system by a USB cable and is equipped with a RAM for buffer once stored with the recording signals outputted from the computer system detects whether the unrecorded recording signals remain in the RAM for buffer or not when the USB cable is pulled off during the recording operation and the recording operation to the disk is continued while the unrecorded recording signals remain.
